throughout history of art, the geographical centers of artistic creativity have often shifted over time. today we can say that for the first time, peripheral idioms claim an even more important role than ever before. this change will inevitably be reflected in the exhibition [f]originals - shopping baskets.

ubermorgen artists lizvlx, hans bernhard and billie-ada zora suzanne bernhard were comissioned by monochrom vienna to design a space for cockroaches, an environment that would have imposed some form of resistance to pretty straight forward activities that ubermorgen would perform. how would this effect the forms that were created in the environment. again this was a sort of continuation of something that had started several years before, where training devices used in american football would be used in corridors or on floors with drawing implements to make marks in unpredictable ways in an environment, adding more weight to these devices; animals. there was an e-commerce angle, which ended up being used over and over again, and became a little bit emblematic, a kind of creative tool, although it's built to break down the pixels of the imaginus using it as a training device for human nerves. [f]originals need to be put under resistance to develop, and a lot of the work of that time was focused on that as a metaphor that a form couldn't really grow without resistance. and in that way a lot of the ubermorgen [f]originals became really useful to look at as tools and as concepts to set up a realtime, live living story.

minimalism became a strong influence at the end of the '90s, as evidenced by jil sander's fashions and calvin klein's zen-influenced home collections. as the dotcoms began to crumble and the millennium bug threatened, people were feeling the need to stop and escape. spass boomed and designer water abounded. these influences led ubermorgen to pronounce web grayscale, the color of 16 sea and sky, "the colors of the millennium." today, big ticket items have retreated into even more neutral or deeper colors, but it is the perfect time to bring touches of webcolor into the home with accessories and small appliances, allowing consumers to enjoy webcolor without spending a great deal. yet neutral does not equal boring - all grays are not created equal, and even white and black have hundreds of subtle variations in the wildlife outside the computer networks."
